Around Here | Serenbe & Chatt Hills (August)

Not local to Serenbe + Chatt Hills? This is Around Here a subsection of Life at Play, and my way of keeping our local community connected. It goes out at the beginning of every month. If it’s not your thing, you can update your email preferences at the bottom anytime.

The kids head back next week and the calendar has structure again (wahoooo). I’ve missed the rhythm more than I expected to… but i’m going to miss lunch with my kiddos too. It also feels like half the town has been on extended vacations and half is new, so if you just landed here: welcome. You picked a good spot.

New and not sure what this is? Around Here is my (hiii, I’m Gina, more on me here) neighborly guide and community project to keep us all connected in the Serenbe and Chatt Hills area. Scroll to the bottom anytime to submit an event, get your business listed in the local directory, or send me a scoop. There are just shy of 1,000 of us here, and the more you use and share it, the better it gets.

Subscribe and you won’t miss next month.

Around Here is supported this week by A Movable Feast

Four things. It’s all made from scratch. The owner and chef, Gia Rosenfeld, trained at Le Cordon Bleu (the top French cooking school). She owns SnackBar, the prettiest copper food truck you’ve ever seen. And she cooks up culinary experiences all over Atlanta.

So yes, kinda a big deal, and we’re lucky she’s right here. Got a dinner or an event that deserves better than the usual? She’s your person. She’s also hiring, so if you know someone good with food prep, send them her way.

Oh, and this Friday she’s serving up summer Italian in front of the General Store. Get your order in early, she will sell out. Details and menu here →

Gia’s beautiful mobile kitchen, SnackBar (also lovingly named Gilda). Isn’t she pretty?

A Few Things I’d Tell You If We Ran Into Each Other

Lots of food stuff 😉

A real pizza joint is coming to Palmetto. The creator of Mellow Mushroom and his daughter are opening Pulliam’s Pizza & Alignment THIS FALL . Yup, so we know it’s going to be damn good. To be clear, not a Mellow Mushroom, a one-of-a-kind creation with Pizza + a full menu of your family favorites. Complete with some fun art installs. I’m talking a yellow brick road, bowling ball fence, and ceramic tiles from local artist Morgan Boszilkov. + the Instagram is a fun follow while you wait.

Good Place Farm now has a U-Pick in Chatt Hills. Wander the garden daily, 7am to 10pm, now through October. Ten dollars a visit or $100 for a season pass. Right now it’s peppers, cherry tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and zinnias. Here’s a cutie, quickie video on how to do it.

Chaka’s is coming to Mado in Serenbe. A plant-based cafe is moving into the old Radical Dough spot. No inside scoop here, but there’s a sign on the door, and I found this website.

Owners Melody Shimtov and Marc “Banks” Weinstein, hand-setting bowling balls into the fence at Pulliam’s Pizza & Alignment in Palmetto just last week.
