Kids paint pumpkins at a long table outside, then go read out loud to the rescue horses, who are a famously good audience. Five dollars a pumpkin and the money goes to the herd.
It is the kind of afternoon that sounds almost too wholesome until you are standing in a field watching your kid explain a picture book to a horse. Two hours on a Saturday.
