About

Finley is a contemporary artist, activist, and the Founder and Curator of the Every Woman Biennial. She is known for elaborate paintings, intense use of color, monumental murals, and multidisciplinary collaborations. In addition, her public art interventions — including the acclaimed Wallpapered Dumpsters — blend activism with bold visual storytelling.

She created the Every Woman Biennial, formerly the Whitney Houston Biennial (2014–2021). Through this exhibition, she presented more than 1,200 female-identifying and non-binary artists in New York, Los Angeles, and London. The exhibition featured paintings, performances, sculpture, and public actions displayed salon-style. Most notably, no artist who submitted work was rejected. This radical act reinforced the Biennial’s commitment to inclusion and equity.

Finley’s practice functions as both contemporary art and social practice. Her work creates space for collaboration while challenging traditional art world systems. Through vibrant color, scale, and community engagement, she encourages artists and audiences alike to imagine more inclusive creative spaces.

Finley has exhibited internationally. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, La Repubblica, Dazed, Fast Company, Women’s Wear Daily, LALA, and other major publications.
